New Music!

I interrupt the boyband special for some of my new addictions! A quick one today, I'm leaving in an hour.
  • I'm now, officially addicted to The White Tie Affair. Think Panic! At the Disco + Metro Station, amazing melodies, cool instrumentals.
  • My dad is now officially addicted to the Ting Tings. I like to think I had a hand in getting him addicted : ). Remember, annoyingly brilliant! haha. As I'm writing this, he's playing That's Not My Name on the stereo at max. YES!
  • Never in a million years did I expect to like Peter Andre. I'm liking Insania, cool song, great melody but so-so vocals. He's done pretty well in music, apparently. haha.
  • I'm liking Another Level's Freak Me as well. Amazing melody and the rest of their debut album is just brilliant.
  • The GA b-sides are awesome! I'm loving the megamix more than Memory Of You but they're both amazing! Plus the fact that it's apparently on 7" vinyl. Heck, I don't even know what that is!(Ok, I know it's one of those big black round thingies but that's it.)
  • A still addicted to the Lady GaGa acoustic thing, it's so different from the original one! Speaking of her, Just Dance is number one in the UK this week! James Morrison is number two as well, yay!
  • Northern Line ARE AMAZING. Check out the boyband post tomorrow: 5 Boybands that Demand Your Attention for more on probably the most amazing boyband in that post! haha.
  • Craig David + Monrose? Coolness! I don't like Walking Away to start with but the idea of him doing a duet with different people in different continents reminds me of the BoA/Christian Castro thing Westlife did for FWW on their GH1. haha.
Other than that, there's nothing really new or groundbreaking. Remember, the Varsity Fanclub album comes out TOMORROW!(at least that's that I saw on a few blogs and sites..) Yay! Something to review! Yipeeeeee!

James Morrison - Songs For You, Truths For Me

I literally have to force myself to write this. Garrrr.

James Morrison is one of those artists that people who know me would never believe I like, but I really, truly adore him. I mean, his voice is gorgeous enough then he releases these brilliant songs that keep you wanting more!

Over here, his sophomore release was very quiet, virtually no promotion and during the rare times that I do watch TV(which is almost never) or if I overhear someone watching the music channel, I haven't heard anything about him. Heck, I didn't even know he was coming out with a sophomore album until I saw it up for download! haha. OK.

This is one of those albums wherein I listen to every single track and you obviously know that I don't listen to albums from start to finish that much. Melodically all the songs are stunning and arrangement-wise you hear a lot of things in the album, but there's never too much of something, you're not bombarded by all these fake drums or all these processed sounds, there are some of those but never in excess.

The amazing thing about this album is that I never, ever get sick to listening to it. There are a lot of songs that I absolutely love but then I listen to them too much and they get too annoying but I can seriously listen to this album for the rest of my life and not get sick of it.

I do not want to do a song-by-song breakdown of the album for fear that I might keep on saying the same things over and over again and you don't wanna be reading that, do you? I thought so.

I just want to say though, I love the elements that flow through the entire album, the similar feels of The Only Night, Precious Love and Nothing Ever Hurt Like You are so cool and the un-mushy-ness of You Make It Real, even though it's kinda mushy.

You know who he kind of reminds me of? A Brit version of Paddy Casey(if you even know who he is.. haha.).

Rating: 5/5
This album's also number 9 on my top ten albums of 2008! Hurrah!

# 49: James Morrison - Broken Strings with Nelly Furtado

I've always worshipped the ground James Morrison walks on, mainly because he's such an amazing singer and songwriter.

His melodies are so amazing, and his voice just makes me melt.

I loved his first album, and it was promoted like crazy here. Like every time MTV went to a commercial break, they HAD to have an ad about him, they were giving away like 50 signed copies of his debut album and it was number one in the music stores' sales charts.

Then after that, he just disappeared here.

His second album came out and I just saw it on the new releases rack one day, untouched.

But his first album had so many hidden gems that i just HAD to buy it in case it had just as many amazing songs in it. I wasn't let down though, the album is brilliant.

Broken Strings is just amazing, the way Nelly Furtado's voice mixes with his in an awkward but gorgeous way just makes me want to repeat the song over and over again until my ears can't take anymore.

The weekly recap..

Yes, here we go again!

  • Well, Girls Aloud are(for me..) big news-makers(or whatever you call it..) this week, with their Live Lounge Performance of the new single AND the new video out, I absolutely ADORE them! The video is so COOL! I love it... I seriously can't wait for the album! GA vs. Sugababes? GA wins it this year!
  • The Live Lounge Performance, even if Nadine was nowhere to be found, was DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS. These girls can sing... and sing well! watch it!!!!
  • I have the new albums from Monrose and Robin Thicke, I'll give them a listen over the weekend and tell you guys what I think in the coming week.
  • I LOVE the new James Morrison album, it's a very, very good advance from his first album, and to tell you the truth, the songs are still coming out for him, he's shown us who he is as a singer and now it's just all about sustaining what he's shown us.
  • According to my last.fm, 'Up' by The Saturdays is my most listened to track this week and coincidentally, it shoots up from number seven last week to the number one spot this week! Also quite a few new entries(GA rockets into the chart at number three with their new single 'The Promise'), a re-entry at number ten and a few tracks dropping off the countdown. Check it out!
  • To read on more of my favorite stuff, check out my post last Wednesday...
What to expect from me this week:
