Best of 2009: March #6 - #3

And we start another month - March was filled with milestones for me personally so how did the music I was listen to reflect that? LOL. Enough talking - let's get down to business.

#6: Hannah Montana - You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home

Hannah Montana has remained a guilty pleasure of mine, I remember that the show premiered while I was at the height of my Disney addiction (fueled by HSM) in 6th grade. I may not like Miley's stuff as Miley (Party in the USA can burn in hell for all I care) but this is the one song that I liked from whichever identity of hers this year. ESPECIALLY the string section in the middle 8 - that did it for me.

#5: Corbin Bleu - Moments that Matter

The first part of the year was pretty decent for Disney acts and Corbin Bleu is one of those that were blessed with decent songs this year. I've gushed like crazy about Moments That Matter - it's got a gorgeous piano part and although Corbin's vocals on the song are crap, the song is brilliant. The rest of the album sucks so I wouldn't bother but this is the one song you have to hear. Brilliance.

#4: Savannah Outen - If You Only Knew

YT sensation Savannah Outen has a gigantic, deep voice but I like the fact that they're not making her sing a bunch of ballads for 40 year-olds. If You Only Knew is pop/rock and the girl sells the song so well that I just have to listen to it again. Gorgeous melody, beautiful vocals and the whole song just works.

#3: Cassie - Let's Get Crazy

Cassie pretty much gave me my R&B fix when I was in 6th grade when her debut album was making a slight impact on American music - TRL in particular. Whenever I listen to her first and only studio album the first thing that pops into my head is TRL. Go figure. After a ton of songs being leaked, her sophomore album being pushed back for years now, and her kind of being MIA in terms of official singles and the actual album, Let's Get Crazy kinda fed my need for new music from her. She doesn't have the best voice, heck, it's not even note-worthy but I dunno - I just like her music.

Sorry for not posting that much, my uncle just died yesterday morning and everything was a blur yesterday. I may not be able to post for the next few days 'coz the place we're staying in doesn't have an internet connection and there'll be lots of things to take care of...

I predicted ANOTHER single? What's with me and guessing all the eventual singles now? ANYWAY, the video's a bit boring but the song is still a guilty pleasure.. hahah.

Am not myself today, sorry about that. Will be back posting when I can..

New Music!

Sorry for not posting in ages, have been busy with school and nothing extremely exciting has been happening so I waited for all the new stuff to flow in..

• I know I've said that by the few songs that've been circulating from the Hannah Montana movie, I wasn't so impressed with the soundtrack. One new song off it though has done all the right things. Always Find Your Way Back Home is standard Disney/Hannah Montana, catchy melodies and lyrics about dreams and home and friends but this song has the most gorgeous melody. Haha.
• There's a new BoA song out, I Did It For Love and aside from the strange laughing, it's not that bad. There are parts that just explode but I'm still a bit uncomfortable about her singing in English and I can't seem to forget how bad Eat You Up was but oh well, this is a bit better.
• The Veronicas did a stripped version of Burnin' Up and may I say, it's not that bad. I wouldn't listen to it for no reason but I wouldn't take it out of my library either!
• I FINALLY got The Saturdays' Comic Relief single in HQ and I've been listening to it heaps. I kind of like the Wideboys Radio Edit, it's not that different from the original track..
• I know I'm a year and something late but I'm slowly getting addicted to Adele. I've heard the first three tracks on the album and I love them all! Will listen to the rest later..
• There're three new Jordin Sparks clips, Let It Rain is amazing, Walking On Snow is even more amazing but Papercut is BRILLIANT!
• It's official, following their first ever BRIT, it was announced that Untouchable will be the next single off Out of Control! haha. I love the song..
• Speaking of the BRITs, Duffy was the big winner that night, she won three out of her four nominations but the Ting Tings' performance with Estelle was the best part of the night for me, WHY DIDN'T THEY WIN???????!!!!! Garrr.

New Music!

School for me's starting tomorrow, so let's recap on stuff that's come out since the last post!

• A new Taylor Swift song just came out, and it's confirmed my thoughts, Taylor Swift is going to wow us with her second album. If we all thought her first album was amazing, this one's looking to be mind-blowing!
• Why has almost everyone in the blogging world heard the new Same Difference single in full? WHY? I'll wait, but beware, I'm not that patient!
• New Hannah Montana songs have been circulating, and I absolutely loathe them. She's trying to do something she can't, mix country with Britney-like pop. I know that kind of pop is popular now, but look at Taylor Swift! Hannah/Miley has forgotten how she became popular in the first place, nice, catchy, distinctly Disney songs. Oh, well. Let's hope there's at least one good song on the soundtrack.
• Sara Bareilles has a new live album. I'm loving it! Obviously, I adore the songs! Some new songs were included, and I'm once again loving them!
• Not directly related to music, but Kian Egan from Westlife, Anthony Costa from Blue, Kenzie from Blazin' Squad, some guy from East 17, Jenny Frost from Atomic Kitten, Mutya Buena from the Sugababes, A girl from All Saints and someone from this 80's girl band were all on Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong. I love the part when Ant and Coleen mimed Flying Without Wings in mid-air! Plus the fact that Kian was there(eep!).
• A new Corbin Bleu song's out. It's an OK song, but it's slowly growing on me.
• I'm loving Amy Diamond's Music In Motion. Seriously! I might review it later in the week if I have the time..
• Natalie Bassingthwaighte's new single, Alive is amazing! I wonder if her album will be any good..
  
• Not so hot about this week's episode of Britannia High, but it might get better later in the series. No particular songs that I'm loving, and the dance routine in the canteen was all too predictable. But Nicola and Kimberly(GA!)'s visit was nice. But Danny(is it Danny?) screwed the whole thing up. Gar.
• Mariah Carey has a new song, but I haven't heard it yet. Downloading at the moment, so it'll take a few minutes. Will edit the post when I've listened to it already. EDIT: I don't like the song. It's a ballad, but the melody just doesn't cut it for me. Plus it reminds me a bit of When You Believe or some Spanish-like song(Westlife's I Cry? something like that..)
• The video for David Cook's Light On is out. It's a generic video, with clips of the story and Cook singing, nothing special. The song is OK, but I expected more from Cook. I adored him on AI so what happened to that guy? Right. He got controlled by a bunch of record company executives who know nothing about music!

• Darin has a new single out, and the video premiered sometime last week. The song is nice, I haven't listened to it enough to say it's amazing, but I like it.

What to expect this week:

• MAYBE a review of Amy Diamond's Music In Motion
• My very own countdown to Taylor Swift's Fearless, out next week!
• MAYBE a review of Sara Bareilles' new live album, Between The Lines: Live At The Fillmore
• Something to get us all into a Christmassy mood, maybe?

Hannah Montana in 3D!

Well, well, well.

So this 3D Hannah Montana thing is premiering on October 31(halloween!) in the UK and 6PM on the UK Disney Channel(duh, UK..). It's in 3D, so you'll obviously need the glasses to actually properly watch the concert, which are apparently available in Agors Stores(please note that I have no idea what they are...) or in Sky Kids magazines.

So you guys in the UK, I know there are quite a few of you(since I do review mostly UK stuff..), WATCH IT! haha..

Well obviously, Kenny Ortega has something to do with this. I mean, how could he not? Then there's a host of other guys doing a host of other stuff like the director of photography, Mitchell Amundsen(who apparently did Transformers..) using these really, really HD 3D cameras. So it's obviously very good, technically.

And apparently, it was in cinemas in the UK on March 14 this year, so if you didn't see it then or want to watch it again, WATCH IT TOMORROW!

I saw parts of the concert, and I think it's a good concert, actually. I love the songs, pure, amazing Disney-ness! It's like HSM gone Pop/Rock/Country/Solo. Some songs bother me(with the talking and all..), but both of the soundtracks are amazing(I own them both!)!

So once again, those of you in the UK, here's everything in handy bullet form!(yes, you had to endure my torturous writing just to find out that it's in bullet-form at the bottom of the post!

• It's on Disney Channel UK on October 31, 2008 at 6 PM.
• You can get the 3D glasses, if you don't have them yet, at Agros Stores or in Sky Kids Magazine issues
• Kenny Ortega thought of a produced the show so if you like HSM, then watch it!
• It sold $29 Million on it's opening weekend and hit number one on the US Box office.

Some amazing new stuff!

Spur of the moment thing..

Here are some of the amazing new stuff I've found during my scoring through various sites.. want to hear any of them? BUY THEM!

• Some of the most popular female artists have released 'Just Stand Up', an amazing, DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS song for the Stand Up to Cancer campaign. Seriously! It's very, very catchy yet it does what it's supposed to do, raise a lot of money for a worthy cause(insert 'awwwwwww' here). Despite a lot of flops in the charity single arena, this, I'm very pleased to say, has been done right and has earned countless plays on my iPod! BUY it now!
• One of my favorite blogs just featured E.M.D., perhaps the hottest new Swedish boyband to come out this year. Their first two singles went to number one on the Swedish charts, and so did their album so I got curious. Turns out, some of guys who've been behind the likes of Britney Spears, Shayne Ward and Westlife also wrote a couple of songs for them. The album is pretty darn good. Seriously, get your copy NOW!
• I just recently re-discovered 3LW(I know, I know.. late, much?) and I'm loving 'Neva Get Enuf'. On the subject of 3LW, The Cheetah Girls 3 was shown already(I think..), and soundtrack is amazing! Among my favorites are 'No Place Like Us' and 'What If'..
• Although Michelle Williams' 'Unexpected' wasn't the gold mine of amazing songs I was expecting, 'Thank U' is a very, very pretty song among a few others. 'We Break the Dawn part 2' is another great track. Now if only I could get it without the rap...
• I absolutely adore 'Summertime' but I just heard the NKOTB album sampler and there are quite a few tracks I'm eagerly awaiting, including their duet with Lady GaGa(my new guilty pleasure..) and some really great R&B staples from the guys. 
• There's this new Hannah Montana remix EP floating around so I decided to give it a listen. I never expected and R&B-fied 'Nobody's Perfect', did I? No way. The 'Rock Star' remix is also a must-listen, a nice way to get a rest from all the uber-cheesy dance trash you get from the 'Non-Stop Dance Party'..
