Ripple News - 31st Calgary Folk Festival Strikes New Ground with Arranged Marriages!

Shaking things up.   Stirring the pot.  We at the Ripple love it when people break through common boundaries and strive for something different and fresh.  Apparently the folks at the 31st Calgary Folk Festival feel the same way.  This year, they're proud to announce "arranged marriages" - where artists are put on stage together to collaborate and to not only find the common ground in their music, but to challenge one another to move outside of the comfort zone.

Years past have seen everything from the Weakerthans, Calexico and the Handsome Family combining to create a one time only indie-rock supergroup; to the more unexpected, like when Andrew Bird performed with the Master Musicians of Jajouka.

Among this year's unique collaborations are St. Vincent with Man Man, Frank Turner with The Burning Hell, and Joe Henry with the Swell Season just to name a few.
